Brian Weltch - Councilman

Brian was born and raised in Chicago, IL. After graduating from high school in Algonquin, IL, Brian entered the United States Army. He served as a 67T1F / 15T1F Blackhawk Helicopter Repairman / Flight Crew Chief. Brian left the U.S. Army after serving tours in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division as well as a Combat Tour in Iraq in 2003 with the “Lancers” of B Co 5/101, 101st Airborne Division “Air Assault”. 

Brian settled in Burkeville, VA, in December 2012. In August 2013, Brian wanted to find a volunteer opportunity to keep him active, so he joined the Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department. Volunteering in the community has been an extremely therapeutic and rewarding experience over the years. A long-time volunteer member of the Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department, Brian currently serves as the Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief. 

Brian was elected as Mayor of the Town of Burkeville in November 2020, serving until November of 2023. He hopes to use his experiences as Mayor to help the Town of Burkeville as a Councilman. 



Brian is married to Mrs. Debbie Weltch also of Burkeville, VA. He has a total of 3 sons (Chris, JJ and Jeremy) and a daughter (Jasmine).
