Dr. Winifred “Ann” Reed Wolven and her husband of 42 years, Greg, retired to Burkeville in 2021. Ann was a Professor of English, literature, and journalism/photojournalism at Lincoln Trail College (LTC) in Robinson, IL.
She earned her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Higher Education Leadership from Grand Canyon University (2015); her Master Online Teaching certification from the Illinois Online Network and the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana (2011); her Master of Education from Lynchburg College (1989) while teaching journalism there; her Master’s in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism (1982), during which time she covered 5 Illinois Congressmen and 2 Senators on Capitol Hill for a Chicago newspaper; and her Bachelor’s in English from Mary Baldwin College (1981).
Ann taught English, literature, and journalism/photojournalism at Bluestone High School in Skipwith and at the college/university level (Lynchburg College, Vincennes University, and LTC) for 38 years. She was a general assignment reporter for newspapers in Chicago, Maryland, and Virginia. Ann volunteers as a photographer for different Burkeville events, such as the Easter Egg Hunt and the Back-to-School event.
